★ Enable individual sections on lists to be hidden/visible only to staff

Many of our users would like the ability to make individual sections 'staff view only' aka 'not visible to students' even when the list is published.

Hidden sections could be indicated by the standard 'eye-icon' that most users are familiar with.

This would be helpful for various uses:

  1. Librarians could suggest new editions/titles to list creators in hidden/ 'staff view only' sections

  2. Lecturers could progressively reveal sections to students in line with their pedagogy

  3. Lecturers could use hidden/ 'staff view only' sections for 'drafting' or planning purposes.

Ultimately, our users find it frustrating and inconsistent that they can hide and unhide individual modules in Canvas, but cannot do the same for sections on Lists.

This! I am currently having to manage my weekly reading lists in Moodle, so that I can reveal them in sync with the relevant lectures. It would be much more convenient for both me, and the students, to have them in Talis Aspire.

This has been requested by our academics, and would really solve the problem of reading lists functioning as a pedagogical and Acquisitions tool.

The absence of this feature has been problematic for us as we migrate from our own, in-house reading list system which does support hidden sections. Hidden sections in Talis Aspire would be invaluable, and I could also see numerous applications for a hide function at individual item level.

Thank you both for your feedback. I have added this to our backlog theme for managing lists to be assessed for priority next year. Appreciate your input!

Academics have been requesting this for years.
