It would be useful to be able to colour code bookmarks in a list, as aside from adding in a 'note for students' there's not really any way of emphasizing the importance of a particular bookmark in a list. For instance, I am currently editing a list where the academic has added asterisks onto the original word document to denote readings that are of particular use to students. There isn't currently any way to translate this into Talis, aside from grouping them in yet another section, but there are already so many of these in the list already. It might also help distinguish bookmarks from one another, as often there are no accompanying images of books for bookmarks, and the list can look a bit grey and same-y.
I too think this idea would be really useful. The importance tool is great in that it gives the student a sense of what they should read, but a colour-coded option could be useful in different ways. For instance, a list of five items might all be marked as 'Core' so where should a student start, Yes, academics can add student notes etc... and some do, but a colour and/or a tag/flag to say "This is a priority source" would be a better visual clue. It could be a part of the bookmarking process where a single click to mark a 'priority resource' is offered at the time of bookmarking. Academics would like this as a time-saving feature. Librarians could use it in their own resource lists to aid promotion.
I also think that being able to colour code bookmarks would be so very helpful. It could also be quite useful for some students with additional learning needs (e.g. dyslexia), as they would be able to spot the key resources immediately as the bookmarked resources stand out by colour. I am so glad that someone else has suggested this already! It is surprising that this feature isn't already available in Talis.
